Jasmin Anoschkin is a versatile artist and sculptor. She is known for her playful, wildly experimental style, whatever the material – she most frequently uses ceramics, wood and glass in her sculptures. A sense of roughness and the joy of experimentation shine through in her works, which often feature layers of different textures and colours. Anoschkin lives and works in Helsinki and is a member of the Arabia Art Department Association. Anoschkin’s works have been widely exhibited over the past ten years in Finland and abroad, and she is one of Finland’s best-known contemporary sculptors internationally.
Anoschkin often sculpts animal figures that are disproportionate and vibrantly colourful. Like the works in the ‘Bubble Bubble Zoo Delux’ exhibition, his work is strongly linked to the imaginative world of childhood, games and toys. Anoschkin hopes that, through his works, the viewer can also see themselves in a kinder light and with greater self-esteem.
“My exhibitions are often comprehensive installations in which storytelling plays an important part. My works are individuals with a healthy sense of self-confidence, whose stories may even change along the way. They have the ability to laugh at themselves, and their pride looks exactly as it looks.”
