Sculptor and designer Arni Aromaa uses ceramics, glass and wood as his materials. In recent years, he has explored the combination of ceramics and glass in the firing process. Aromaa’s techniques include casting and mould-pressing and hand-building for larger works.

In addition to ceramics, Arni Aromaa uses wood as a material for his sculptures. The themes of his works are inspired by nature, but their visual language, finishing and execution techniques draw heavily on Aromaa’s training as an industrial designer.

Aromaa works as an industrial designer in his own design studio. “Art is a strong inspiration for me in my design work and I draw inspiration for art from the world of design,” says Aromaa, describing the dialogue between the two perspectives.
