Jouko Ollikainen is an illustrator, graphic designer and artist. Above all, he is an almost obsessive innovator and creator of art. Ever since his youth, his passion has been to see the unseen and to experiment with different techniques and materials in his work. Ollikainen’s pop-up exhibition ‘Royal Cat Portraits II’ is an ode to the royal cats of the animal kingdom. In these portrait paintings, the cats are depicted in a historical context, complete with costumes and settings, portraying the animals as royalty. Vibrant, muted colours and gilding emphasise the feline subjects, which often also feature humorous traits. In her works, Ollikainen frequently uses recycled vintage frames, which add their own layer of history to the pieces.
