Tom Lönnqvist

Tom Lönnqvist is a Helsinki-based sound, spatial, and performance artist. He holds a master’s degree in sound and has contributed to acclaimed dance and performing arts productions. His artistic practice encompasses the body, modular synthesis, installation, painting, video, drums, and ambisonic field recording.

The paintings are based on a triad: water, earth, and city. Water represents waves and movement. Earth represents the soil and its power to sustain growth. The city represents culture, form, and sound. The works were created on large canvases laid out on the ground before being finished and framed.
