Glass artist Sini Majuri, MA, combines robotics and artificial intelligence to push the boundaries of traditional glass art. She works at the Suomenlinna glass studio. Her works explore human rights, technology, climate change and the essence of being human. Majuri’s art has been featured on the front page of The New York Times, and her glass sculptures have appeared in more than 70 exhibitions worldwide, including in New York, Tokyo, New Mexico, Toronto, Venice and Hong Kong. She has received several design awards, including a Golden A’ Design Award in Italy.

“There is something about glass that captures the essence of our time: it shows and distorts, reveals and misleads. It is not honest, yet it does not lie either, forcing you to question what you thought you saw. Through its quiet contradictions, glass can be both razor-sharp and almost unbearably fragile. It is like us humans: transparent, sensitive and yet more resilient than we believe.”
