Sari Bremer

Helsinki-based printmaker Sari Bremer celebrates her 50th birthday and 25 years as a professional artist with her exhibition Terra Incognita. Bremer graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2001 and has worked as an artist ever since. She works primarily with etching, building her prints in layers.

Her visual language combines magical realism, subtle humour, and a wealth of imagery in which history, imagination, and the present intertwine. Over the course of her long career, Bremer has also begun to look back, recognising that certain themes return to her work time and again and cannot be fully explored in a single piece. Recurring themes include the cycles of nature, past generations, transience, and the fragile relationship between humanity and the environment.
