Maria Wolfram

In her work, Maria Wolfram explores questions of identity, human encounters, equality, and power relations. She employs a distinctive approach in her paintings, sculptures, and installations, combining materials such as oil and acrylic paint, ink, textiles, and collage. Wolfram holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design at the University of the Arts London and is highly active on the international art scene. Her work has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, North America, and South America in solo and group exhibitions as well as biennials.

The dynamic interplay of colour and surface is central to Wolfram’s work. Her art is inspired by the human condition, encounters with others, folklore, art history, and contemporary culture. She also draws inspiration from her interactions with different cultures. In Wolfram’s recent paintings, human figures and landscapes merge into complex, unexpected narratives. She sees the human face as a landscape of emotion and believes that visual art offers ways of enriching human experience that transcend the boundaries of written and spoken language.
