Laura Itkonen

Laura Itkonen is an artist (TaM) living and working in Helsinki. Her work focuses on visually detailed, tactile architectural ceramic art and sculptural expression. Itkonen is a very material-oriented artist with an experimental approach to material and its chemistry. Influenced by geometric forms and abstract, figurative expression, he creates contrasting entities that are often collage-like.

“My approach to materials often emphasizes their particularities, creating a dialogue between texture and form, while careful shapes made with different techniques bring coherence to the whole, as well as contrasts. Contrasts and contrasts and their interaction are the unifying factor in my work. My inspiration comes from stories, architectural forms around us, different periods of history, visual contrasts and especially stones and minerals.”

Laura Itkonen’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in both public and private collections. She has also made several public artworks in Finland and abroad.
