Jenni Vakkilainen

Jenni Vakkilainen is a Helsinki-based painter. Playfulness, sensitivity, painterly expression, and the diversity of colour and material are central elements in her work.

Vakkilainen paints in layers, using both thin washes and thick applications of paint to create spatial, breathable compositions. She works on several paintings simultaneously. By closely observing how surface, material, and colour interact, the works gradually take shape and reveal themselves.

Vakkilainen works in both oil and watercolour.
