Carla Lundell

Carla Lundell

1971

Carla Lundell is a painter who graduated from the Free Art School in Helsinki. She works primarily with oil on canvas and also makes her own paper. Memories, human figures and nature are recurring themes in her work. Her painting style ranges from loose and suggestive to more precise, and from movement to stillness, reflecting the nature of memories and the subjects of her works.

The colour of the canvas or paper is an essential part of Lundell’s art. She primes her canvases with natural glue, allowing their colour to show through. Through the soft colour of the canvas, she seeks to give her works a sense of breath and openness. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Finland.
