Anne Hirvonen

Designer Anne Hirvonen (b. 1990) graduated from Aalto University with a Master of Arts degree in 2022. She previously trained as a wood artisan and furniture designer.

Despite her diverse background, Hirvonen has focused primarily on glass design in recent years, finding the material deeply fascinating and inspiring. For Anne, glass is the most challenging material she has ever worked with—and that is precisely one of the reasons she finds it so compelling. Developing an understanding of the material, its limitations and its possibilities has opened up the world of glass to her.

Hirvonen is particularly interested in exploring different techniques and processes, always seeking to develop them further through her work. In her experimental projects, she has studied and worked with recycled glass, an exploration that also led to the creation of the Bloom vases.
