Alma Jantunen

Alma Jantunen is one of the most renowned contemporary glass artist in Finland. Jantunen graduated from the Wetterhoff School of Crafts and Arts as a glassblower in 1996. Together with Johannes Rantasalo, she set up a glass studio, Lasisirkus, in Nuutajärvi in 1999. Lasisirkus has been awarded the Ornamo Craftsman of the Year Award in 2007 and the Arts and Crafts Federation’s Arts and Crafts Award in 2016. Alma Jantunen’s art glass is in the art collections of many museums and the Finnish State. Every year, her works are exhibited in Finland and abroad.
Alma Jantunen’s Sunshine Beach exhibition takes you under the surface in warm waters. There you will find a richly blooming coral garden and lots of cheerful colours. The sculptures are inspired by corals and aquatic plants, air bubbles and water movements. The gold and silver filigree and filigree patterns combine with the colours to create vivid and multi-dimensional layers in the sculptures.
The adventure continues as sky and sea meet on the horizon. The colours of the skyline and the warmth of the sun are calmly reflected in the surfaces of the softly shaped glass sculptures
