About the work
Despite his mixed-media background, Korhonen has focused on producing colourful acrylic paintings over the years. His paintings reflect both the playfulness characteristic of sexuality, represented by bright colours, and the artist’s personal interest in the human body. In his works, this takes the form of anatomical close-ups, in which the geometric shapes of the muscles and the striking neon colours create an almost abstract effect.

Henna Korhonen
Henna Korhonen (b. 2000), known by her artist name Hensku, is a self-taught visual artist who holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Turku’s language specialist programme. Playfully experimenting with a range of materials, Hensku explores the carnality and sexuality of the human body, which also serve as her primary sources of inspiration. Through her anatomical paintings, she seeks to challenge the stigmas surrounding sexuality that also shape perceptions of depictions of the human body.
