About the work

In Jaana Mattsson’s paintings, gardens, landscapes, and interiors unfold as places where the familiar and the imagined meet. The works are united by a rich palette, the presence of light, and small details that invite the viewer to pause for a closer look. Mattsson’s paintings are like fairy tales for adults; in them, the possible and the impossible coexist, allowing the viewer to step beyond the bounds of everyday life. For the artist, each painting is a journey, where the destination is revealed little by little during the process. What matters the most is the joy of life.
