Bloom No. 9

Anne Hirvonen

290

A mouth-blown glass vase with a unique colour scheme. Recycled glass has been used in its manufacture.

The Bloom series is the result of a project in which Anne Hirvonen explored ways of utilising glass waste at the Nuutajärvi glass studio. Recycling glass has a significant environmental impact. Compared to glass made from virgin raw materials, the use of recycled glass results in savings in raw material costs and natural resources, energy savings of 20 per cent and lower carbon dioxide emissions. As a material, glass is 100 per cent recyclable and can be recycled indefinitely without any loss of purity or quality.

Made in the glass village of Nuutajärvi. Glassblower Anna Sihvo, assistants Janika Karttunen, Elina Reinola, Klasu Martin and Henri Carrara.
