Susanne Koskimäki (b. 1974) is a Helsinki-based designer and glass and ceramic artist who graduated with a Master of Arts from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2000. She is best known for her colourful, evocative engraved glass works and distinctive ceramic objects and sculptures, created using both hand-building and casting techniques.
Koskimäki’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her most recent solo exhibition, “Susanne Koskimäki”, was held at Galleria Duetto in Helsinki in summer 2023. It showcased glass engravings and hand-built ceramic figures titled Sukkahousuolennot (“Pantyhose Creatures”), created during a year supported by a Finnish Cultural Foundation grant. In 2024, she was one of the artists featured in the summer exhibition at Art Centre Salmela, where both her glass and ceramic works were on display.
Her works have also been acquired for public collections. The most recent acquisitions include the Sukkahousuolennot figures, also shown at Duetto, purchased by the Finnish State Art Commission in autumn 2023. Her glass work Forest Vessel is part of the permanent collection of the LWL Museum Glashütte Gernheim in Germany. Her art is also held in the collections of the Finnish Glass Museum. Her artistic practice has received support from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
Alongside her own artistic career, Koskimäki has worked extensively with other artists, including serving for many years as workshop manager of the ceramics studio at the Arabia Art Department Society. She is also a founding member of Rastas ja Muru, a ceramics and glass studio that opened in Helsinki’s Etu-Töölö district in spring 2024.
