To make my paintings, I explore the forest and take many high resolution photographs. I photograph a scene several times, adjusting the focus to different depths. Later, in the studio, I reference these photos to inform my paintings. There are always adjustments to the compositions. Editing occurs naturally as the image becomes a painting. My paintings have an effect of realism at a distance. Brushstrokes are easily visible when viewed closer.
